Stumpjumper components
Fork
Specialized Stumpjumper 2006 bike is equipped with the Fox fork, and has 90mm travel. Bike forks absorb the shocks and give you a smooth and pleasant ride. In short, make sure you choose one with a decent fork when you purchase your dream bike.
Fork material
The fork on this bike is made out of aluminum, which is a lighter material. However, it is not as tough, nor durable as steel is.
Wheels
When leaving the production line, the Stumpjumper model has 26″ aluminum wheels. Being a little smaller, these wheels will fit both small and tall riders. However, you will need increased suspension than in the case of 29″ wheels.
Brakes
We ride faster and faster, so a good braking system is essential on a bike nowadays. The Stumpjumper comes with Rim brakes. Rim brakes deliver an average performance overall. However, they have problems in wet conditions.
