Fork material
When it comes to the fork, this bike has a steel one, which tends to be more flexible than carbon forks in general. However, a carbon fork is considerably lighter.
Wheels size
The Disc Trucker 2017 bike is equipped with 26″ aluminum wheels when leaving the factory. Being a little smaller, these wheels will fit both small and tall riders. However, you will need increased suspension than in the case of 29″ wheels.
Brakes
Nothing is more important on a bike than its ability to brake properly. Surly Disc Trucker is equipped with Mechanical Disc brakes. They are much easier to maintain than hydraulic disk brakes. However, with hydraulic disk brakes, you have the ultimate braking power!
