Fork material
The fork on this bike is made out of aluminum, which doesn’t add too much extra weight to the bike. However, it is not so stiff as steel or carbon forks are.
Wheels size
When leaving the production line, the Beltway 8 model has 700c aluminum wheels. These wheels are the most used kind for road bikes in general. However, these wheels don’t perform so well when passing over obstacles.
Brakes
When you want to stop the bike in time, the brakes are vital. The Beltway 8 has Rim brakes. Rim brakes are cheaper than hydraulic brakes, and also easier to maintain. However, they are not nearly as effective as hydraulic brakes are.
