In short, before purchasing your ideal bike do some research about its components, and also check for reviews online.
Overview of components
Fork
The Hardrock Disc SE 26 comes factory-installed with the SunTour XCT fork. This has a travel range of 80mm. Bike forks are great for shock absorption and provide you with a smooth ride. To sum it all, when buying a bike, ensure that you look for a fork capable of decent travel.
Fork material
The fork is made out of steel, so, it can add some extra weight to your bike. However, steel is a pretty tough and durable material.
Wheels
When leaving the production line, the Hardrock Disc SE 26 model has 26″ aluminum wheels. The 26″ wheels are lighter than the 27.5 or 29″ wheels. However, they are less forgiving when riding over obstacles such as bumps and roots.
Brakes
We ride faster and faster, so a good braking system is essential on a bike nowadays. The Hardrock Disc SE 26 comes with Mechanical Disc brakes. These brakes are also very popular, and a lot cheaper than hydraulic disk brakes. However, with hydraulic disk brakes, you have the ultimate braking power!
