Overview of components
Fork
The Status II comes factory-installed with the RockShox BoXXer fork. This has a travel range of 200mm. Bike forks are great for shock absorption and provide you with a smooth ride. In short, you should always ensure you have a good fork when purchasing a bike.
Fork material
The fork is made out of aluminum, which doesn’t add too much extra weight to the bike. However, it is not so stiff as steel or carbon forks are.
Rear Shock
From the factory, it comes with the Custom FOX VAN RC rear shock model, which has a travel of 200mm. Rear shocks give you increased comfort, control, and traction, which is important when cornering or braking. This allows you to ride faster on bumpy roads. To sum up, always consider getting a bike that has a rear shock as well.
Wheels size
The wheels on Status II are the 26″ aluminum type. Being a little smaller, these wheels will fit both small and tall riders. However, you will need increased suspension than in the case of 29″ wheels.
Brakes
For your safety, it is important to have quality breaks on your bike. Specialized Status II has Hydraulic Disc brakes installed. Hydraulic disc brakes provide amazing stopping power, no matter what the terrain. To sum up, you can ride your bike with confidence.
Sizes
This bike is available in 4 sizes. They vary from 151 cm – 184 cm (4.95 ft – 6.04 ft). In short, it won’t be difficult to find the right one for you.
