Overview of components
Fork
Kona Blast 2012 bike is equipped with the RockShox fork, and has 100mm travel. Bike forks are great for shock absorption and provide you with a smooth ride. In conclusion, always look for a fork with decent travel when you buy a bike.
Wheels size
When leaving the production line, the Blast model has 26″ aluminum wheels. These wheels give you great handling over your bike. However, they provide less traction than 29″ wheels do.
Brakes
We ride faster and faster, so a good braking system is essential on a bike nowadays. The Blast comes with Mechanical Disc brakes. These brakes are also very popular, and a lot cheaper than hydraulic disk brakes. However, with hydraulic disk brakes, you have the ultimate braking power!
