Classic Steel 3-Speed components
Fork material
The fork on this bike is made out of steel, which is tougher than carbon in the case of an impact. However, it can add some extra weight to the bike.
Wheels size
The Classic Steel 3-Speed 2011 bike is equipped with 26″ aluminum wheels when leaving the factory. The 26″ wheels are lighter than the 27.5 or 29″ wheels. However, you will need increased suspension than in the case of 29″ wheels.
Brakes
Nothing is more important on a bike than its ability to brake properly. Trek Classic Steel 3-Speed is equipped with Coaster brakes. These brakes are pretty efficient, and they’re not so pricey. However, they have flaws, especially if the chain falls off.
