Express has a steel fork, which tends to be more flexible than carbon forks in general. However, a carbon fork is considerably lighter.

As for the wheels, Fairdale Express 2018, has a 700c aluminum model. These wheels are the most used kind for road bikes in general. However, while they give you great speed and control, these wheels are not so bump-friendly.
Brakes
We ride faster and faster, so a good braking system is essential on a bike nowadays. The Express comes with Rim brakes. Rim brakes are cheaper than hydraulic brakes, and also easier to maintain. However, they are not nearly as effective as hydraulic brakes are.
