Overview of components
Fork
This bike has the SunTour NEX fork installed. The fork’s travel is 63mm. Bike forks are great for shock absorption and provide you with a smooth ride. In short, you should always ensure you have a good fork when purchasing a bike.
Fork material
Carmel 3 Low Entry has an aluminum fork, which doesn’t add too much extra weight to the bike. However, it is not so stiff as steel or carbon forks are.
Wheels size
When leaving the production line, the Carmel 3 Low Entry model has 26″ aluminum wheels. Being a little smaller, these wheels will fit both small and tall riders. However, they provide less traction than 29″ wheels do.
Brakes
Nothing is more important on a bike than its ability to brake properly. Specialized Carmel 3 Low Entry is equipped with Rim brakes. Rim brakes are cheaper than hydraulic brakes, and also easier to maintain. However, they have problems in wet conditions.
