Carmel 5 components
Fork
The Carmel 5 comes factory-installed with the SunTour NEX fork. This has a travel range of 63mm. Bike forks absorb the shocks and give you a smooth and pleasant ride. To sum up, when buying a bicycle, make sure you get a fork that is capable of delivering decent travel.
Fork material
The fork is made out of aluminum, which is a lighter material. However, it is not as tough, nor durable as steel is.
Wheels
When leaving the production line, the Carmel 5 model has 26″ aluminum wheels. The 26″ wheels are lighter than the 27.5 or 29″ wheels. However, they provide less traction than 29″ wheels do.
Brakes
Nothing is more important on a bike than its ability to brake properly. Specialized Carmel 5 is equipped with Rim brakes. Rim brakes deliver an average performance overall. However, you could spend a little extra and get a bike that has hydraulic brakes.
Sizes
This bike is available in 4 sizes. They vary from 158 cm – 199 cm (5.18 ft – 6.53 ft). In short, you can easily find one that suits you.
