Fork
The SunTour NEX is included from the factory. It has a travel distance of 63mm. Bike forks are good shock absorbers and provide a smooth ride and a great experience. To sum up, when buying a bicycle, make sure you get a fork that is capable of delivering decent travel.
Fork material
The fork is made out of aluminum, so there won’t be much extra weight added to the bike. However, they are not so stiff as carbon forks are.
Wheels size
The Globe Carmel 1 700c 2009 bike is equipped with 700c aluminum wheels when leaving the factory. There is no doubt, that 700c wheels are very popular on all road bike models. However, while they give you great speed and control, these wheels are not so bump-friendly.
Brakes
When you want to stop the bike in time, the brakes are vital. The Globe Carmel 1 700c has Rim brakes. Rim brakes are cheaper than hydraulic brakes, and also easier to maintain. However, they have problems in wet conditions.
