Fork material
The fork is made out of aluminum, which is a lighter material. However, it is not as tough, nor durable as steel is.
Wheels size
As for the wheels, Trek 7.3 FX 2009, has a 700c aluminum model. There is no doubt, that 700c wheels are very popular on all road bike models. However, while they give you great speed and control, these wheels are not so bump-friendly.
Brakes
We ride faster and faster, so a good braking system is essential on a bike nowadays. The 7.3 FX comes with Rim brakes. Slightly lighter than hydraulic brakes, rim brakes are a budget choice. However, they have problems in wet conditions.
