Fork material
The fork is made out of steel, so, it can add some extra weight to your bike. However, steel is a pretty tough and durable material.
Wheels
As for the wheels, Trek Pure 2014, has a 26″ aluminum model. Being a little smaller, these wheels will fit both small and tall riders. However, they provide less traction than 29″ wheels do.
Brakes
We ride faster and faster, so a good braking system is essential on a bike nowadays. The Pure comes with Rim brakes. Rim brakes deliver an average performance overall. However, they are not nearly as effective as hydraulic brakes are.
